Why BIRDIE?

Why BIRDIE?

Have you ever wondered how BIRDIE came to be? It all started with a dog named Trevor. One day, while out walking her own dogs, our founder, Brittany, received a call from her wife about a dog in need on the side of the road.

What happened next?

Upon reaching the injured dog, Brittany realized the severity of the situation. With no 24-hour emergency vet clinics in the area and work commitments looming, she was faced with a dilemma. In a moment of desperation, Brittany reached out to Casa Grande Non Emergency for help. This experience highlighted the critical need for accessible and immediate care for animals in distress.

When Brittany was on her way back to pick up the dog, animal control was pulling up as well. Brittany asked animal control, what would happen to him? Animal control informed her they will reach out to rescues to see if any would like to help him or unfortunately he would have to be put down with the severity of his injuries.

Animal control picked up the poor little guy and left. This did not sit right with Brittany. She felt she didn't do enough for him. She posted on the city’s facebook page trying to find the owner, but no one came forward. Few hours later, there was an update on the young pup, he was transported to an emergency vet and was going to be helped by Rotten Rotties Rescue in Phoenix.

Trevor Fought Hard

Trevor had everything going against him. His jaw was broken in a couple places, missing teeth, couple broken legs, bruising on the lungs, parvo and under weight; that is a lot for a dog so young. When Brittany found out, she reached out to Rotten Rotties to thank them and ask what she could have done better in future. Rotten Rotties educated her and gave her tips to how she could handle a situation like this next time.

Rotten Rotties gave Trevor their all, they raised over $12,000 to help heal Trevor. Brittany couldn't believe the out pour of love and support Trevor received and how big of a support system Rotten Rotties has.

After multiple surgeries, vet visits and late nights, Trevor was starting to heal. Trevor fought hard for two months and then started healing. Trevor went into foster care, but not too long after Trevor found himself facing another battle with an UTI. However, as a true fighter, Trevor won the war.

Happy Ending

After 7 long months, after everyone saying Trevor should be put down, he defeated all odds. Trevor's foster dad became a foster fail.

Because of Trevor

Brittany could not get Trevor and that day out of her head. She was amazed with the all the love and support Trevor received. Because of Trevor, Brittany wanted to build her own squad to help save more paws in need.

So we ask you to join us in our lifesaving mission and help us make a difference in the lives of animals like Trevor. Together, we can create a world where every animal receives the care and compassion they deserve. #SquadGoals
